Exploring Stockton-on-Tees for great food often leads us back to a few reliable favourites, and Alfrando’s Peri Peri is one of them. If you love spicy chicken, generous portions, and meals that are easy on the wallet, this is Stockton’s answer to Nando’s, but with its own character and at around half the price.

We usually eat in, but if you are short on time this takeaway chicken spot really hits the right place. It works just as well for a quick lunch as it does for an easy evening meal, especially when you want something filling without the wait.

We have also put together a short video showing the food, the space, and the overall feel of Alfrando’s, which gives a proper snapshot of why we keep coming back while exploring Stockton.

Where is Alfrando’s Peri Peri?

You will find Alfrando’s just off Stockton High Street, making it easy to reach whether you are shopping in town, heading home from work, or passing through the centre.

Address
26 Prince Regent Street
Stockton-on-Tees
TS18 1DF

Its central location makes it ideal for eating in, grabbing a takeaway, or picking up food before heading along the river or back through town.

What is it like inside Alfrando’s?

Step inside and you are met with a rustic wooden panelled interior, comfortable booths, and casual seating that suits the relaxed style of food they serve. The decor is simple and practical but feels welcoming and well suited to the space.

Eating in is comfortable for small groups and families, while the takeaway service is quick and straightforward if you are on the move.

It is exactly the kind of local spot The Tees Explorer enjoys highlighting. Unpretentious, friendly, and focused on serving good food without fuss.

What is the menu like?

If spicy chicken is your thing, Alfrando’s is a solid choice. The menu offers plenty of variety without being overwhelming and covers both peri peri classics and familiar favourites.

You will find peri peri chicken fillets with rice and salad, whole grilled chickens, chicken strips and wraps, classic beef burgers with sides, as well as milkshakes and desserts.

One of the best parts is being able to choose your spice level. You can keep it mild or turn the heat right up, although it is worth noting that the hotter options do not hold back.

Standout food & drink

We have eaten here several times now and everything we have tried has been consistently good. A couple of options always stand out for us.

The chicken strips with rice and salad are simple, filling, and full of flavour. The whole peri peri chicken platter is the real highlight and great value for money.

The platter includes a full peri peri chicken, large fries, rice, two pittas, and a one point five litre drink. At twenty pounds it is an easy way to feed the whole family.

What are the prices like?

Alfrando’s prices are very reasonable. Meals start at around six pounds, which is noticeably cheaper than similar chain restaurants. If you are used to eating at Nando’s, you can expect to pay roughly half the price for a comparable meal.

Portions are generous, so you are not sacrificing value for cost. It is proper filling food that leaves you satisfied.

What does The Tees Explorer recommend?

We have yet to have a bad meal here, which is why Alfrando’s earns its place on The Tees Explorer. It is reliable, affordable, and works whether you are eating in town or grabbing food to take away.

If you are out for lunch in Stockton, feeding the family on a budget, or simply craving peri peri chicken, Alfrando’s Peri Peri is well worth adding to your list while exploring Stockton-on-Tees.
